I got my Ph. D. degree from Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications in 2007. Currently, I am working as a PostDoc at PRIP lab, Michigan State University. My research interests include fingerprint recognition, perceptual grouping, and matching.

  • Minutia matching - A minutiae matching algorithm has to solve two problems: correspondence and similarity computation. For the correspondence problem, we assign each minutia two descriptors: texture-based and minutiae-based descriptors, and use an alignment-based greedy matching algorithm to establish the correspondences between minutiae. For the similarity computation, we extract a 17-D feature vector from the matching result, and convert the feature vector into a matching score using support vector classifier.
  • Ridge matching - Both ridge correspondences and minutia correspondences are established. The algorithm incrementally matches ridges and minutiae, and compute a matching score by considering both correspondences.
  • Fingerprint indexing - It is an invariant-based indexing scheme where the invariant is computed from the relations between ridges.
  • Ridge extraction -
